Show Me the Money

What would you do if you had been laid off by Microsoft recently, which is bad enough - only to receive this letter in the mail box instructing you to return a portion of your severance:



The mistake was solely Microsoft's error (I guess they didn't use Excel when figuring the math). Somehow I would find it difficult to locate a warm spot in my heart as I followed their instructions to remit the overpayment. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few people who just "don't know where that money is".

Seems like a low blow, but in trying to be fair I have to say after this became public Microsoft decided to rescind their "request". I'm not sure this removes the insult that was added to injury.
